Your first flight

From a new account to a paid charter, step by step. It takes one flight to learn the whole routine.

  1. 1

    Choose where you start

Open Charters and type the ICAO code of the airport you want to begin at. From then on you are wherever your last flight ended.

    • •Public aircraft wait at every airport: you do not need to own one to fly.
    • •Your simulator is set in your profile. Only aircraft available for it are offered.
  2. 2

    Connect SimBrief · optional

Put your SimBrief pilot ID in your profile. The portal then sends each flight to SimBrief with its passengers, cargo and aircraft, and reads the plan back.

    • •The ID is the number on your SimBrief account page, not your username.
    • •Without SimBrief you can still fly: set the departure fuel by hand on the flight page.
  3. 3

    Install the tracker

Download vJetOps Tracker for Windows, unzip it and run it on the PC where the simulator runs. Sign in with the same email and password as here.

    • •It needs FSUIPC installed and the simulator running. The download page lists the requirements and each step.
    • •The tracker only watches the flight. It never moves a switch on your aircraft.
  4. 4

    Book a charter

On the Charters board pick an aircraft parked at your airport, then a flight it can reach. Open it to see the route on a map, what it pays and how long you have to fly it, and press Book.

    • •A rented aircraft costs by the hour flown, and only if the flight lands at an airport. Cancelling costs nothing.
    • •One flight at a time: finish or cancel it before booking another.
  5. 5

    Dispatch the flight

On the flight page press Generate in SimBrief, finish the plan there, and come back: the portal picks it up with fuel, weights and route. Or type the departure fuel by hand.

    • •Flying on VATSIM or IVAO? The Prefile buttons on the flight page send the plan there.
    • •A flight too long for the aircraft is flown in legs: choose the fuel stop on the flight page.
  6. 6

    Load the aircraft and start

In the simulator, load the same aircraft type at the departure airport. In the tracker press Load aircraft, wait for fuel and payload to turn green, then Start flight.

    • •Some aircraft load from their own EFB only. The tracker says so and still shows when fuel and payload match.
    • •Start flight stays off until the aircraft carries what was dispatched.
  7. 7

    Fly it

Fly the route as planned. Passengers notice steep turns, hard jolts and a seat belt sign left off for takeoff and landing. On longer flights they ask for a drink or a meal: send cabin service from the tracker.

    • •No time acceleration, slew or refuelling in the air: those hold the report for review.
    • •Keep the tracker open until you are parked.

  8. 8

    Park and send the report

Land, taxi in, set the parking brake and press Submit flight in the tracker. You get the client's verdict in stars, the pay, and what the flight cost: fuel, crew, rental and airport fees.

    • •A soft landing and a happy cabin pay a bonus. A pleased client asks for you again, at a better rate.
    • •Finance shows every flight with what it earned and cost. Career keeps your achievements.

After the first flight

  • Ferry flights move an aircraft for its owner: no deadline, good pay, fly them in as many legs as you like.
  • Buy an aircraft, new at the factory or used at an airport near you, and stop paying rental. The bank lends to pilots with a record.
  • Travel to another airport as a passenger when the flight you want leaves from somewhere else.
  • Airliner-size jets fly on contracts made for them, listed under the charters at your airport.
